If you are looking to get into engineering, we can give you the chance to gain practical experience on live projects, study for qualifications and get paid a good salary, all at the same time. And when you finish your initial training you’ll have excellent career prospects and the potential to develop into one of our future managers.
Balfour Beatty Rail Track Systems is the specialist track manufacturing business of Balfour Beatty Rail, the UK’s major rail engineering company. As such we design and manufacture a variety of switches and crossings and other specialist track systems.
We can give you the chance to gain practical experience at our production facility in Sandiacre, Nottinghamshire in our design and process engineering departments and study for NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, all at the same time. During the 4 year scheme you will follow a developed training plan to gain knowledge of special track drawings, manufacturing standards, resolving production problems, generating 2D arrangements and operating a manufacturing database. And when you finish your initial training you’ll have excellent career prospects and the potential to develop together with the Company.
All you need to do at this stage is to ensure that you have five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade A -C including Maths, English and Science – and a commitment to learn, both academically and on the job.
Balfour Beatty Rail Projects is international leader in the design, construction, equipping, maintenance, management and renewal of rail assets and systems. Recruiting and training new people to become one of our leaders of the future is an important part of our plans to grow the business, which is why we run two schemes:
The Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme is delivered in conjunction with Network Rail. Your first year will be spent studying and living with your fellow apprentices at HMS Sultan in Gosport, Hampshire – Europe’s largest specialist engineering facility. At the end of the first year, you’ll receive a BTEC National Award in Engineering, Performing Engineering Operations NVQ Level 2, and Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) at Level 2. You’ll then move to one of our work sites where a mix of work experience and short courses will result in a Rail Engineering NVQ Level 3 qualification, although you’ll have the potential to go on to other higher qualifications.
HND in Civil Engineering - On this programme, you’ll attend the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn, Norfolk on a block release basis. This will ensure that you get a combination of work experience on our projects and academic study right from the start. At the end of the scheme, you’ll receive an HND in Civil Engineering, although again there is the potential to go on to other higher qualifications.
The Balfour Beatty Rail Projects' scheme is now closed to new applications. Leave your details here to be notified when it reopens. |
