London Underground Services
Track Alliance
We are currently working in an alliance with Metronet to design and construct substantial track replacement on the London Underground infrastructure.
The project team is a joint project team of Metronet employees and Balfour Beatty employees making up a total work force of 300 plus. The project is managed out of our offices in West Brompton and Ruislip.
This is a high profile project due to nature of the work and as a result we work in an environment that enables significant career and personal development. Read more about the work that we and our client, Metronet, are delivering on the underground in their magazine produced for their staff and those of their contractors.
Track Care Unit
The Track Care Unit (TCU) was established to bring Balfour Beatty Group knowledge of main line maintenance, specialist plant and asset life extension to the London Underground network. The TCU is providing a track quality service working with our client to deliver enhanced and routine planned maintenance of the track assets. The new TCU provides a complete service adding value through engineering experience and expertise and longer term resolution to track defects.
The Track Care Unit works as a framework taking packages from the work bank. The TCU is responsible for arranging access, planning resources, materials, track handback and record keeping. The TCU has the capability to quality assure and sign off its own delivered work.
The Track Care Unit will draw on the strengths of the business and operates in four distinct areas:-
-
Basic plain line track improvements
-
Specific attention to S&C (“Golden Assets”)
-
Volume maintenance with plant & machinery
-
Life extension to defined sections of the asset
Victoria Line Upgrade
We will be replacing some 50km of conductor rail in four sections for the Victoria Line power upgrade works. The new rail is a low loss composite conductor rail that improves the conductivity and reduces energy losses. The work is being carried out between June 2007 and May 2009. |
