My Career
What made you join Balfour Beatty? I previously worked for a local construction company and wanted the increased challenge of joining a large bluechip company.
What does your current role involve? I publicise the three Balfour Beatty companies I work for through external communications, producing brochures. I also make news announcements within the company, write the newsletter and compile a monthly brief.
What job skills do you have to contribute to your work? I have a degree in European Business Studies from Humberside University and have about 12 years' experience in the field.
Best/worst parts of your job? I enjoy finding out information, meeting people and learning about company projects on site. I am not so keen on the time-consuming aspect of putting together the monthly brief - people often need chasing up!
Best career advice you have been given? Try to find a job where you can fulfill your full potential.
What trait(s) do you admire in co-workers? I admire patience, the ability to work to deadlines and the quality of appearing organised.
What would you like to be doing in five years’ time? I would like to progress within my role to senior management level.
Sum up your feelings to the company/ your role or career choice. At the moment we are going through a period of exciting changes. As we become more focused we are being given better direction and I appreciate the moves towards employee empowerment. |
